Naga City is known for being the "The Heart of Bicolandia" wherein it is the commercial, financial, educational, religious and cultural center of the Bicol region. It is located about 380 kilometers southeast of Manila on the Southern Part of Luzon and it is in the middle of the Camarines Sur Province.
Naga City residents are known as Naguenos and speak the Native dialect of Bicolano.During Jesse Robredo time as mayor of Naga City, Robredo was credited for "dramatically improved stakeholdership and people participation in governance, in the process restoring Naga to its preeminent position as premier city of the Bicol Region."
One of the most prestigious award it recieved is when Asiaweek Magazine cited it as one of the "most improved cities" by the in the year 1999 which open it for more doors to come.The City has so far received over 140 regional,national and international awards and distinctions since 1988, when it started to build a reputaion for being a model local government unit that pioneered innovations in local governance. This also reflects the high standard of governance actively practiced in the city.
Sec. Robredo was in office as the Mayor of Naga from the year 1988-2010.
